It’s Coming… Free Comic Book Day!!

Hmm… methinks we need a comic book category…

Anyway, if you haven’t heard about it for the past 5 years, Free Comic Book Day is a wonderful event that happens every year. Basically, the first Saturday in May (which, un-coincidentally, has almost always ended up being the day/weekend after the release of a big Marvel blockbuster… the first one was after X-Men 1, the second after Spiderman… wait… X-Men 2, Spiderman 2… no, X-Men 3 came out later in the month…), you can go to any participating comic book store, and get free comics out of some special edition books that are available. It’s a really neat thing that happens each year, and if you didn’t already know about it, go check out the link.

The Future of DVD’s…update.

By Joe

Ok, so maybe I gave too much credit to the porn industry. What am I left with for an indicator to what the future will have? Evidently, it’s Walmart. The scary, scary corporation. What are they picking? HD DVD. Yup. Another one against Sony. How are they doing it? By contracting a really cheap (less than $300) player.

In an effort to try to push sales of their media, to pull people away from the series of tubes known as the internet, they’re viewing HD as the draw to get people into their doors. We shall see how this turns out, and whether or not I have to make another retraction.

Krazy Ken’s Outta Here!

By Joe

That’s right! As of June, Ken Kutaragi will no longer be under the employ of Sony!

From Wired

Ken Kutaragi, the man widely regarded as the father of the PlayStation, is stepping down from his role as Chairman and Group CEO of Sony as of June 19, 2007, Sony announced this morning.

I can’t believe how excited I am about this. Yet, dissapointed, mostly because we’re not going to have the endless swarm of asinine quotes.

It also seems strange that the reason that he’s leaving is that Sony no longer needs visionaries.

Wedbush Morgan Securities analyst Michael Pachter says that Kutaragi’s departure signals that Sony no longer needs “visionaries” to run the PlayStation business — it needs “operations” types.

Weirdness….

Glass Doll : Blissfully Dead

grrrrrrrrrr.JPG

Blissfully Dead is the first album by Glass Doll. Out
of New York City, Glass Doll has had some trouble
forming and has been in several stages of development
since 2005. The current line-up of lead singer Lillie
Charlotte, drummer J-Lo, and violinist Zed bring a
refreshing sound that blends the aesthetics of British
glam rock with the simplicity of early American punk.
This blend leaves a feel of arthouse rock mixed with
intense, dark lyrics and chocolate sprinkles.

Less is indeed more as this trio bring their music
that feels at home today as it would in the 80’s
alongside Julian Cope and Ian McCulloch with a
carnival feel. When asked for a comment, lead singer
Lillie Charlotte said, “It sounds that way because we
use a lot of 3/4 time.”

The only real downside to the EP is that it only has
four tracks, of which one is a different mix of the
same song. It’s hard to peg Glass Doll on such a small
tidbit, but they are also found on myspace and on the
web (Website: http://glassdoll.rushedblue.com Myspace:
http://www.myspace.com/glassdollband ). With songs
like “Untitled” and “Fake Eye,” it is easy to expect
good things from Glass Doll in the future.
