Glass Doll : Blissfully Dead
Blissfully Dead is the first album by Glass Doll. Out
of New York City, Glass Doll has had some trouble
forming and has been in several stages of development
since 2005. The current line-up of lead singer Lillie
Charlotte, drummer J-Lo, and violinist Zed bring a
refreshing sound that blends the aesthetics of British
glam rock with the simplicity of early American punk.
This blend leaves a feel of arthouse rock mixed with
intense, dark lyrics and chocolate sprinkles.
Less is indeed more as this trio bring their music
that feels at home today as it would in the 80’s
alongside Julian Cope and Ian McCulloch with a
carnival feel. When asked for a comment, lead singer
Lillie Charlotte said, “It sounds that way because we
use a lot of 3/4 time.”
The only real downside to the EP is that it only has
four tracks, of which one is a different mix of the
same song. It’s hard to peg Glass Doll on such a small
tidbit, but they are also found on myspace and on the
web (Website: http://glassdoll.rushedblue.com Myspace:
http://www.myspace.com/glassdollband ). With songs
like “Untitled” and “Fake Eye,” it is easy to expect
good things from Glass Doll in the future.
