It’s Here!!!

What’s here? Moero! Nekketsu Rhythm Damashii Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan 2, that’s what!

I don’t actually have my DS yet, but I played a bit on my friend’s system on the way home from Pink Godzilla. Here’s my quick review:

At the opening of the game, there’s a quick tutorial of the different moves (same as the first game), which you can skip through. Then you’re brought to the standard opening options, of single- or multi-player, or options. Honestly, I didn’t pay that much attention, I wanted to play the game.

Same as Ouendan 1, you default with Easy and Hard modes, with the same characters helping you for each one. I started up Easy mode, to see how far I could get before I had to put the game. After the opening sequence, I had access to the first level, which, not only was similar to Ouendan 1 by being the only level available… but it’s even the same character! Yes, our high schooler from the first game is now a businessman, and you have to get him through a tough meeting (or something).

Beating the first level unlocks three more… but wait! A ship arrives, with the new RIVAL TEAM! From this point out, half the map is our old team, and half is the new team. Beating a level for either team gets the character you helped a little flag to hold. Presumably, there’s a way to get the other team’s flag as well, but I was focused more on getting through levels. The next three levels unlocks three more, then four after that (I only got through the 8th level before I had to put it up).

Gameplay-wise, it plays the same, but I couldn’t help but feel that the levels were harder than the beginning levels of Easy mode in Ouendan 1. Whether or not this plays true for the rest of the game, I don’t know.
