Wii-mote+PC

I am geek, I will readily admit to that. We all are in some shape way or form.

Some people are sci-fi geeks. Some people are comic book geeks. Some are both. Some folk have some geekiness that other geeks find geeky. It’s the natural order of things.

I, personally, am not however a tech geek. I can run system cleanup programs, I can update whatever driver I need to have changed. When it comes to clocking the motherboard or reconfiguring drive specs I will usually defer to other geeks, like Joe for example.

Really there is a point to all this, wait for it.

In my labours of research today I came across the coolest mod ever. The mod allows you to play the PC version of Half Life 2 using the Wii Mote. (http://wii.hl2world.com/) No more using that pesky mouse to aim around the screen and using the keyboard to move. Using Bluetooth technology and a program called GlovePIE you can then use the Wii-mote as a PC peripheral. Now some game mods like the Half Life 2 which I mentioned earlier are practially completly fitted for use with the Wii-mote. The game will allow you to use the toggle to move and the B button to fire for example. It’s all intergrated into the game.

So why the long winded opening about not being a tech geek? I understand the concept, just not the means of applying it. Ask Joe, that’s what I’ll do.

WARNING!! The following video is in french (which I am fluent in, heh). So why post this video? After searching for a few hours on various websites, this guy has got most of the configuration problems with the sensor bar fixed. How? He used fricking candles. The idea is so astounding and seems to work 20 times better than most of the other ideas I have seen used. It’s just.. wow.

The Wiimote was actually quite friendly to use. It was only a matter of time before the old NES gun-thing had an ancestor, but this time it works for more things than just shooting stuff.

But now we can shoot stuff good :P
