City of Villains… Bad game or overlooked MMO gem?

Three weeks ago, I picked up a copy of City of Villains (CoV) for PC. I figured “why not?” it’s only $19.99… wrong. It was only $9.99 when I cashed out at the register. SWEET! So when I got home, I found a CoV/CoH 14 day trial code from PAX (Penny Arcade Expo) I got last year. I logged onto the CoV website and created my user account. I typed in my 14 day trial code, downloaded the game and installed it. The whole thing took about an hour to install. TOTALLY WORTH IT!

In my personal opinion, the game rocks. I love the idea of choosing your powers and totally customizing your character which is something that other top end MMO’s lack, such as World of Warcraft, where the customizing options are limited and not very gratifying. In this case, CoV takes the cake, and that’s something I can really dig my teeth into. Literally. WRAR!

The worlds are based on servers, so most of the time things will run pretty smoothly and theres not a lot of people on constantly to bother you or steal your kills, which reminds of a great thing about the game. XP (Experience Points) are divided according to damage done, time spent fighting, and who makes the kill. There is no limit on party size in the game except during missions (which are like instances), the difficulty of the missions depend on what rank your villain is, and how many people are going into the fight with you. A great system if you ask me, especially if you like to play solo.

Some of the commands are really hard to understand, and the UI interface is quite difficult to get a handle on. But once you do… it’s awesome. The emote system is also great; you don’t have to memorize a single emote. They are all pretty and well organized. So if you’re computer is a beast, or even if it’s just okay, go out and pick up a copy of CoV. You get the game for a month and most of the time at the store when you go to pick it out it’s only a whopping $9.99.

But then again… that’s 9 double cheeseburgers from the McDonald’s dollar menu.
Or 1 crunchwrap supreme, 2 large sodas, 1 steak quesadilla and 2 apple empanadas from Taco bell…

Mmmm So YES! go get City of Villains it rocks.

Anything else to say Joe? Anybody? Feel free to email me at Piemaster222@yahoo.com :D

Half the GVL crew is already on the Justice server. Make a switch over and joining the ranks of Geeks Vs Good.

Doug is the leader but I think anyone of us can let you in. Joe is Lawjick and I am Canuckle. See you online before the 14 day pass ends!
