Oddly Creepy, But a Triumph?

By Joe

I spend a lot of time reading about stuff online, and through the grapevine found a couple of things regarding my favorite game of last year, Portal.

Firstly, through Kotaku, I saw this video that was taken from our own SakuraCon of a cosplayer dressed up as GlaDOS. The challenge put forth by Kotaku was how long you can make it before your sympathetic embarassment gland kicks in and you have to stop it. Personally, I find that most of YouTube does that to me. Though, I honestly thought that she did a decent job.

I do have to give her credit, there’s some very nice touches for that costume. I was totally laid out with the flu, so I didn’t get to go, though I gather that Dessa had a blast.

The second bit was this, found via Destructoid, and actually written on Game-ism.

Keep in mind, these are not meant to be dirty.

These pictures are visualizations of a very well thought out philosophical view of GlaDOS, and her motives, as well as what is probably too much thought being put into an analysis of the final song, Still Alive. Some of it seems convoluted, but it’s thought provoking nonetheless, and will make you think about it more the next time you go throwing bits of personality into a furnace.

It’s only been a week an a half… ya gotta give me time to recover and get my thoughts in order…
