Excessive packaging = no clothes?

Okay, so there’s this store down in Westlake Center (in Seattle) called LUSH, which sells soaps and shampoos and stuff. Some of their signs are a bit… interesting… so I usually stay away from it.

I’m definitely staying away today.

Apparently, the company has decided to protest overexcessive packaging by… having their employees come to work in nothing but their aprons today, for about a half hour (the PI’s blog said it was at noon today).

O-kay…

Any of you boys who live down near the city go down to see this? I’m afraid that if I had’ve been working today, and it was up at my mall, I would’ve turned around and went home, calling into work saying that I was too offended by the inappropriateness to come into work.

Save Rocky Ra-ra

I’ll admit it. The Rocky Horror Picture Show is my favorite movie. No, it’s more like a security blanket in celluloid. So, imagine my rage when I found out there was going to be a remake my heart was going to break. When I found out that MTV was going to be in charge, my heart shattered.

Aren’t movie goers tired of going to see recycled redone and often worse than the original movie?

Remakes after a few decades or when the original is out of print don’t bother me as much. But you can not only buy RHPS on DVD or VHS, you can also still see it in many theaters across the country and even other countries. A remake does not need to be done. Worst still, most of the main cast is still alive. (Tim Curry would still be fabulous in drag after all these years!)

PAX: Bring the Noise!

By Jon

It’s letter time! It’s letter time!

Duckie44 asks: “What bands are gonna be at PAX this year?

Fear not my feathered webtarded friend, I have your answer right here:

Jonathan Coulton
The Minibosses
MC Frontalot
The Oneups
Freezepops
Anamanaguchi

and
The Thickets

If you can’t see all the bands (and pray tell why not?), make sure you catch MC Frontalot, Jonathan Coulton and The Minibosses at least. Then buy their albums and t-shirts in triplicate because these guys seriously rock and are genuinely really nice people. All we want to do is eat your brains indeed.

Halo 3 G-Phoria Game of the Year

By Jon

Last night the votes were tabulated and the awards were given out for G4’s G-phoria. The votes were cast by the fans on the G4 website or by text message. Games had to be released between July 31, 2007 and July 31, 2008. If you want to blame anyone for the crappy selections, you have no one to blame but yourselves (for either having bad taste or not voting at all).

Penny Arcade announces Omeganauts for PAX

By Jon

In years past, the final round of PAX has been interesting to say the least. In 2004, Sean Celaya defeated Kevin Potter in a game of Pong. Luke “Coreside” Armstrong defeated Will “LeRoy” Garroutte by a single point to win the best-of-three series in the Atari 2600 gam,e Combat in 2005. The following year, Returning Omeganaut Will “LeRoy” Garroutte defeated David “Davertron” Davis in the final round of the Omegathon: Tetris. Last year the crowd roared with delight as the Mini Bosses set the stage for the final round by playing the theme song from the Halo series, as Ryan “Accalon” Zack beat Ben “MNC Dover” Gray in Halo 3 combat.

What will the final round of Pax 2008 be? Only Pax organizers know… and they’re not telling.

Effin’ Short Review: Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D

By Jon

Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D

Growing up, 3D was a gimmick that mostly failed. This was actually kinda cool. Not the best film of the summer, but a fun ride and a worthy matinee for the eye candy alone. Kuddos to the witters on getting a 4.0 in their Geology class.

Bonus Challenge! How many rocks are mentioned in the film?

Effin’ Short Review: Pineapple Express

By Jon

Pineapple Express

It’s a Cheech and Chong movie mixed with buddy-cop movie.

Kinda funny, more so when baked. As they were when they made it. At this point I’d probably watch a period piece if these guys were involved.

If you’re still unsure, Pineapple Express is about weed. Hence, it will make more money on video.

Muses from med abuses

By Jon

I’ve been pondering a few things (some of them while starving myself for 5 days due to a parasite of some sort).

Let’s try a discussion here:

-No surprise here, Casual games are geared towards a largely growing  market of middle aged women with possibly too much time on their hands. I’m not trying to say it like it’s a bad thing though. My concern is that the companies are making the games TOO CAT FRIENDLY. If I were to leave my laptop on with Bioshock running, my cat would stay the fuck away. The pretty landscapes and southing Jazz of Bejeweled 2 seems akin to catnip. Discuss.

To pass the time between ’spresso shots

Saw this over on Kotaku. Thought the GVL Java Crew might enjoy it.
