New site design

As you can see, GvL looks a little differently now. It’s no longer the offspring of another php designer’s whim and fancy. Instead, it is the offspring of a sick and twisted mind. As usual with a new design, some kinks need to be worked out, so if you run into a bug, or notice something that could and should be fixed, let us know via comments or via email.

Peace.

EDIT:

FIXED! Yay, Dan!
Apparently I busted the comments :(

EDIT 2:

And apparently it won’t work in IE 5/6. Craptastic! (Use a standards compliant browser!) I thought I had fixed the problem with the Google ie7-js javascript fix, but I guess not. Anyone care to help? Email me at dangayle [at] gmail [dot] com.

New Site Logo

Alright friends, we now unveil to you the new Geek-vs-Life logo! In one corner, we have the be-spectacled Geek with callused fast-twitch controller thumbs, and in the other corner we have the 300 lb Gorilla known as LIFE. Who will win the battle?

Who knows for sure, but it is up to us, the Geek Faithful, to stay in the corner of the lowly and oppressed Geek. In the meantime, we stay as cautious as the Shadow of the Squirrel, awaiting the day when we shall all say in a loud, British accent, “Victory is OURS!”

Amen, Brother Gayle, Amen.

Sorry for the interruption…

By Joe

We experienced a bit of technical difficulty earlier in the day. We’re not really sure what happened, but from what I can tell, we got more traffic over the past day than in any 24 hour period since we started this project.

It would seem that Neil Gaiman caught wind of the review that Josh put up about his newest movie, Stardust, and mentioned us on his blog. This was an awesome point for us, especially for Josh, as Gaiman is one of our collective favorite authors.

So, welcome to our new readers, enjoy the site! And to Neil, feel free to break us any time you wish.

New Forum

Ok, so we’ve added a forum for those of us cool enough (or dumb enough) to be writers for geek-vs-life. You can find it by hitting that little link to the left that says: Forum.

Right now it’s set so that only writers can post to it, but eventually we will expand it to allow anyone to post.

Digg it?

250: New and Improved!

By Joe

Well folks, this is the 250th post, and with it, I’m announcing a few things. First up, the site is going through some changes, in case you haven’t noticed. We’re trying some new looks out, and doing a lot of work. Thanks to Dan and Doug for their work on this. Expect to see a whole new site soon, and with it, a new Geek Versus Life. We’re restructuring the internal workings to bring you the best content on the web, bringing in new talent. Since summer is here and a lot of the staff is still in school, there will be more posts. Please bare with us as we’re evolving, and any comments that you guys have on what we can do to make your experience here better, feel free to let me (joe *at* geek-vs-life.com), or any of the staff know.

Happy Anniversary!

By Joe

Happy Anniversary to Nicole and Riley!  And many more forthcoming!

That’ll do, Pig. That’ll do.

By Joe

For the past few months, I’ve been trying to develop a wonderful website. And, in the process, I discovered that I am really bad at developing wonderful websites. So, I passed that task on to Doug. He’s working on it, but has been working on a lot of things that will be more immediately fruitful to him, and this is on a medium burner.

Instead of letting the thousands of stories that I come across pass me by, I’m going to put them up here. So, enjoy!
