PAX: Bring the Noise!

By Jon

It’s letter time! It’s letter time!

Duckie44 asks: “What bands are gonna be at PAX this year?

Fear not my feathered webtarded friend, I have your answer right here:

Jonathan Coulton
The Minibosses
MC Frontalot
The Oneups
Freezepops
Anamanaguchi

and
The Thickets

If you can’t see all the bands (and pray tell why not?), make sure you catch MC Frontalot, Jonathan Coulton and The Minibosses at least. Then buy their albums and t-shirts in triplicate because these guys seriously rock and are genuinely really nice people. All we want to do is eat your brains indeed.

Penny Arcade announces Omeganauts for PAX

By Jon

In years past, the final round of PAX has been interesting to say the least. In 2004, Sean Celaya defeated Kevin Potter in a game of Pong. Luke “Coreside” Armstrong defeated Will “LeRoy” Garroutte by a single point to win the best-of-three series in the Atari 2600 gam,e Combat in 2005. The following year, Returning Omeganaut Will “LeRoy” Garroutte defeated David “Davertron” Davis in the final round of the Omegathon: Tetris. Last year the crowd roared with delight as the Mini Bosses set the stage for the final round by playing the theme song from the Halo series, as Ryan “Accalon” Zack beat Ben “MNC Dover” Gray in Halo 3 combat.

What will the final round of Pax 2008 be? Only Pax organizers know… and they’re not telling.

Coming Soon to GvsL HQ

By Jon

The GVL gang is relocating its headquarters! The old lair served its purpose for the time being, but now it’s time for greener pastures, namely, a backyard. With that green stuff that people have to mow and shit (We’ve been living in downtown Seattle too damn long).

We’re packing up the consoles and tearing down the bookcases. But with the new locale, we get advantages too. Big advantages like room. Lots of room. What will we do with all this room? Let me show you.

That right because sometimes gamers need to get their hands dirty too. It’s perfect for conflict resolution and we needed a place to eat at besides the coffee table.

More info to be released as it becomes available…

Warmest regards,

Oh the one play at the end of “Shakespeare In Love.”

home_bagley.gif

“Twelve Night or What You Will” is playing at the Seattle Repertory Theatre. It was written by William Shakespeare. This rendition is directed by David Esbjornson. Shakespeare has always been geeky in my mind. I think that is left over from my thespian days. So I figured I do a shout out.

It is playing from Sept 13th to Oct 20th. It means it is in the middle of the run, which means all the kinks have been worked out, and the actors aren’t tired of their roles. The price is $15 -$53. The good news is if you are 25 and under it is 10 bucks a ticket. For us senior citizens there is always rush tickets. Show up a half hour before the show and get in for 20 bucks. So kiddos go see some culture, for about the price of a concert or movie.
